Evolution of Social Networking

In the previous blog I have written about that what is social networking. In this blog I am going to tell about the history of evolution of the social networking or social media.
 In 1969, The CompuServe server is used to provide internet to the public of United States.
In 1971, The First mail was delivered to one domain to other.
In 1978, two computer hobbyists made the platform named The Bulletin System which is used to remind his friends about the meeting and to make announcement through the posts.
In 1984, the prodigy was introduced, the world’s second largest internet service provider in 1990.
In 1993, under the supervisory of British engineer Tim Berners, CERN (European Organisation for nuclear research) had introduced the technology of WWW to the world. In 1994, The Geocities was started which allowed the user to make their websites on internet.
The evolution of Social networking was at fast pace by the end of 20th century. In 1997, the internet has more than 1 million websites. Blogging began and blackboard, an online learning system was introduced for the study in the colleges and universities.
In 1998, Google, the search engine was introduced and by the end of 1999, 70 million computers were connected to the computer.
In 2001, Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia was founded.
In 2002, The Friendster, the social networking site for the public of United Status was opened and had 3 million users in just 3 months. After a year there was another social networking named MySpace was launched but the mark zuckerburg invented the Facebook for the students at Harvard University which has the more than 1 billion users in 2012. Podcasting was started and people started making their professional image by using business oriented LinkedIn.
In 2005, YouTube stated posting and retrieving Videos from the each and every corner of the world. In the following years all social networking sites include twitter which was launched in 2006 had the immense increase in the number of users.

Today, the social networking websites are not only accessible by laptops or computers whether by phones, game consoles and Tablets. YouTube has the 4 billion viewers per day and twitter has 500 million users. LinkedIn has more than 225 million users. There are 156 million blogs on internet.
